Cousins Engineering was founded in 1966 by Rex Cousins in a small workshop at the bottom of his garden. In the first year, as sub-contract work increased, Ken Gibbs joined the business, a partnership was formed and they moved their business to a small farm building. Steady growth continued and in 1975 after re-locating several times to increase capacity, the company moved to a 7000 sq. ft. premises, [current location] in Bunting Road Industrial Estate, Northampton.

Following Rex’s retirement in 1983, his son Keith joined the business along with Ken’s son David. After 11 years Ken retired and the business was owned and managed by their sons Keith Cousins and David Gibbs. Keith and David continued in the path of the previous partnership and invested in the business by increasing the capacity of the industrial unit to 12000 sq. ft. to cater for new various CNC machines.

Keith retired from Cousins Engineering in 2005 and David Gibbs merged in a new partnership with Carl Pickering. The company evolved by investing in the latest production, planning and control tools to improve operational efficiency, combined with the re-investment of new multi-axis CNC machines.
